Jon Schladen and Jennifer Guise Schladen have been married for seven years, and together longer than that. We make our home in the Penny Hill area of North Wilmington, Delaware, and share it with two cats, Stanley and Daisy. We have been officiating at weddings and other rites since 2002. Jon is a writer and photographer. His hometown in Girard, Ohio, but he's lived all over the eastern seaboard, settling in Delaware over 20 years ago. A graduate of Kenyon College, he attended
Jennifer is a writer, artist and ordained clergy person. Born in Riverside, California, she, too, has lived most of her life in the New England and Mid-Atlantic states, settling in Delaware nearly 15 years ago. She has studied English and Women's Studies at the University of Delaware and is currently completing her degree at Drexel University. Nearly always self-employed, Jennifer has co-owned and operated a casual catering company; taught beginner ballroom dancing; written for local and national alternative newspapers; worked as a fine stationery and etiquette consultant; and, currently, helps people finance their dreams as a mortgage consultant with American Home Funding Mortgage.
Both enjoy a multitude of interests. Together, they have flown on the trapeze, rafted down the Gauley River in West Virginia, explored the back roads of Big Sur and points north in California, and generally, view their life as an adventure. In their free time, Jon enjoys reading, playing with new technology and Instant Overnight Theatre; and Jennifer likes reading, karaoke, crossword puzzles and Scrabble.
For the last six years, Jennifer has been active in V-Day at the University of Delaware, helping to raise over $60,000 for local anti-violence initiatives. She has also been very active in Wilmington Women in Business and the National Association of Women Business Owners, Delaware Chapter.
